The Orton Gillingham Method
The Orton-Gillingham approach offers unique and effective instruction for struggling literacy learners. The OG approach follows a few key principles:
Multisensory: Lessons involve four pathways to the brain; auditory, visual, tactile and kinesthetic.
Sequential: Concepts are taught in a logical, sequential pattern.
Incremental: Each lesson builds on previously introduced concepts.
Cumulative: Concepts are consistently reviewed throughout future lessons.
Individualized: Each student’s needs are considered individually when planning, with lessons being catered to these needs.
Evidence-based approach: All instruction is based in the science of reading and your tutor is committed to continued professional development.
Explicit instruction: Students are taught what they need to know in a clear and straightforward manner.
Is your child feeling like a fish out of water trying to negotiate their learning?
